Our Family

Never forget that your customers always come first and that if you treat people with respect, work very hard and pay attention to detail, you will go to bed every night tired but thankful and happy.
In the late fifties Mr. Donat Berthelet and his wife Mrs. Leda Berti founded what was to become Produits Alimentaires Berthelet Inc. In the beginning, as is the case with most young family businesses, Donat & Leda worked endlessly to meet the needs of their growing family by offering products to Québec butcher shops. Berthelet sold knives, gloves, aprons, sausage casing, spices and everything else that a butcher might need.
As the company grew and gained a reputation for quality products and unequalled service, their sons Raymond, Yves and Jacques progressively found their way to the business after careers in insurance, printing and sales respectively. With the Quiet Revolution and the emergence of new food technologies, Berthelet introduced an ever widening range of dehydrated products. Of course they would offer canned, bottled or other more traditional products but their unique capabilities and understanding of the tastes and preferences of Québec butchers, chefs and consumers, made them a smart choice for food service establishments.
Today, Produits Alimentaires Berthelet Inc. is one of Canada’s most important manufacturers of dehydrated food products. The company is now managed by Guy Berthelet and other members of the third generation of the Berthelet family. There are some fourth generation Berthelets who are learning, working in other industries so they can bring their own talent and experience to the business with time. One thing every member of the family learns very young is that running a business is a huge responsibility and a unique privilege. After all, they are continuing their great-grand-parents' legacy.
Thankfully, the original values are deeply en-grained in the company culture and everyone remembers some important lessons that Donat & Leda taught their sons & daughters a long time ago.« Never forget that your customers always come first and that if you treat people with respect, work very hard and pay attention to detail, you will go to bed every night tired but thankful and happy ».
