Considering that Valentine’s day is the ultimate occasion for a candlelight dinner with the one that you love, restaurants are often booked well in advance and crowded. Somehow, the idea of a crowded restaurant just doesn’t fit with the concept of a romantic dinner for two, right?

Why not stay home and keep things intimate!

Dazzle your loved one with a customized meal, lovingly prepared by yours truly. A calm, candlelight dinner, alone with the one that you love, now that sounds promising compared to a cold evening out with a crowd of strangers!

Apart from the exceptional menu, pay special attention towards creating a romantic atmosphere. Candles, music and a beautiful table setting will go a long way towards setting the mood.

Berthelet has a few suggestions to help you impress your partner with this romantic meal for two, without spending too much time in the kitchen.

French Onion Soup Au Gratin

Warm the place up starting with a hot comforting soup. Your guest will be tempted by the appetizing scents of onion, herbs, grilled bread and cheese. Prepare the soup in advance and you will just need to bake the bowls to melt the shredded cheese, last minute, before serving.

Spicy Beef Tartare

Ready in 15 minutes, this spicy tartare will make your table-for-two worthy of any 5-star restaurant. Serve it with julienned fries or some baby sprouts if you’d like to top it off.

If you don’t have a ring mould to create the form, you can also use an empty can, properly washed and opened on both ends.

Crème Brûlée with Cardamom

Cardamom is a marvelous spice that will instantly add a touch of refinement worthy of any fine bakery. You can also add some Cardamom sugar to a cup of coffee to tie it all together!

You don’t have a blowtorch to caramelize the crème brûlée? Add the sugar on top and put the crème brûlée in the oven, on broil, for just a little bit, just enough to create a beautiful caramel color.

Chocolate and Cherry Cups

If you believe that romance and chocolate are the way to go, this recipe is just for you. And, if you happen to appreciate the idea of a dessert with an impeccable presentation, ready in 10 minutes, look no more! To keep things spicy all through the meal, add some shredded chili flavored chocolate on top. A lovely way to end this romantic dinner.

Enjoy your meal!
