Poutine with spicy Asian tofu

Berthelet Signature Poutine Instant Sauce Mix

of cheddar grain cheese (room temperature)

of chopped green onion

vegetable oil

15 ml

of maple syrup

5 ml

of lime juice

5 ml

of Berthelet Five Forks Black Sesame Seeds

5 ml

of Berthelet Five Forks Sriracha Mix

15 ml

of chopped fresh basil


Step 1
Cut the tofu into 1 cm cubes. In a bowl, mix the tofu, maple syrup, powdered stock base and lime juice. Marinate for 30 minutes.

Step 2
In a pan, fry the tofu cubes in the vegetable oil for 5 minutes on each side until browned and set aside.

Step 3
In a pot, add the poutine sauce mix to the cold water, mix, bring to the boil and simmer for 3 minutes. Just before the end of the cooking time, incorporate the sriracha mix.

Step 4
Following the manufacturer’s instructions, cook the French fries in the oven or fryer.

Step 5
Place the hot fries in bowls, top with the tofu cubes and cheese and pour over the hot poutine sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped basil and green onion.
